Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) utilizes a sequence of magnetic pulses to stimulate your brain cells. It specifically targets regions of the brain involved in mood regulation. By sending magnetic waves to specific brain regions, TMS can enhance brain cell activity. This may stabilize your mood and relieve your symptoms.
Numerous studies have validated the effectiveness of NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy. It has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in patients with treatment-resistant depression. At Precise Mind, we specialize in delivering personalized care through NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy. We are dedicated to supporting you throughout the process, offering guidance and understanding to ensure your comfort. If you are unsure if this treatment is right for you, we encourage you to schedule an appointment for an evaluation.
TMS therapy consists of a series of sessions, spaced out over several weeks. Your treatment plan will determine the number and duration of your sessions. Generally, a full NeuroStar Advanced TMS course consists of five to six sessions per week, spanning approximately seven weeks. Our care team will collaborate with you to integrate your TMS sessions into your schedule.
You will be seated in a comfortable chair during each appointment. We will map out the treatment area during your first session and mark this spot on your cap, which you will wear for your subsequent sessions.
At the start of your session, a small treatment device is gently placed against your head to deliver focused magnetic pulses to the area of the brain that helps regulate mood. No anesthesia is needed, and the process is comfortable and non-invasive. Each TMS session typically lasts between 20 and 40 minutes, based on your personalized treatment plan. During the procedure, you can relax, listen to music, or simply rest.
You are free to return to work, run errands, or resume your regular daily activities immediately after your treatment. You are able to drive yourself to and from our office.
